Renting guide: what you need
Having the right documents with you makes pick-up take about five minutes. Use this checklist before you travel.
Bring with you
- A valid driving licence, held for at least one year, in the main driver's name. A photocard or plastic licence is preferred; a paper licence alone is not accepted.
- An International Driving Permit if your licence is not in English or does not use the Latin alphabet.
- A passport or government ID that matches the name on the licence and the booking.
- A credit or debit card in the main driver's name. Prepaid and virtual cards are not accepted for the deposit.
- Your booking confirmation, on your phone or printed, and your flight number if you are collecting from the airport.
Age and experience
| Driver age | Allowed vehicles | Young-driver fee |
|---|---|---|
| 21 to 24 | Economy, compact, mid-size, SUV, electric | $15 per day |
| 25 and over | All vehicles, including luxury, sports and vans | None |
| Motorcycles | Motorcycle licence required, minimum age 25 | None |
Choosing the right vehicle
- Economy and compact (for example Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra): best for one to three people and the city. Economical and easy to park.
- Mid-size and full-size (for example Toyota Camry, Honda Civic): comfortable for four, with room for two large cases.
- SUV (Kia Sportage, Ford Explorer): five to seven seats, plenty of luggage space and a higher driving position.
- Vans (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter): groups of up to nine people, or heavy luggage.
- Electric (Nissan Leaf): quiet and cheap to run, around 240 km of range. Ask us about charging points along your route.
- Luxury and sports (BMW 5 Series, Chevrolet Camaro): for special trips and weddings.
Helpful extras
- GPS navigation and a Wi-Fi hotspot for the road.
- Child safety seats for ages 0 to 12. Florida law requires an approved seat for young children.
- Additional driver to share the driving.
- Professional driver for the day, ideal for events or airport transfers.
