Your First 90 Days: How to Start a New Job Well
13 August 2026
The first three months shape how colleagues see you and how you see the job. A little planning goes a long way.
Days 1-30: Listen and learn
Meet your team, understand how work gets done and ask lots of questions. Write down what confuses you; it is useful feedback for onboarding.
Days 31-60: Contribute
Pick a small project you can finish. Ship something, however modest, and ask for feedback early.
Days 61-90: Take ownership
Propose improvements, set goals with your manager and build relationships beyond your immediate team.
Regular one-to-ones with your manager keep expectations aligned and surprises rare.
